project description
The school of Arts Rostock (Kunst.Schule.Rostock) is an institution concerning cultural education. It offers courses in all artistic techniques for children, youths and adults. Furthermore there are provided workshops and projects such as exhibitions, presentations and events. Those projects target to generate attention to the importance of art and the related cultural education for society and economy.
The project that will be the main workplace for the volunteer is called “Friedas Atelier” (The atelier of Frieda). In this studio, artists with and without impairment are able to work together. The project wants to support the equality of opportunities and inclusion in order to encourage integration and diversity.
The atelier has already benefited from a volunteer and wants to repeat this experience to increase the intercultural impact of the project. We aim to include the volunteer into the everyday work life.
The activities envisioned for this project are:
– The participation of the projects and the development of own ideas and projects
– The cooperation with artists with and without impairment
– Public relations work and the work with social media
accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will be situated in a shared flat in a single or shared bedroom. The flat will be near the working place. Food will be provided in form of monthly fees or in school canteen. Volunteers will also receive pocket money to enjoy their life in new country.

Based on the high responsibility of the work, the participant has to be 21.
The volunteer should ideally be interested in art and culture. It is very important that the participant is open-minded and receptive. Due to the fact that the volunteer is going to work with persons with impairment, it is necessary that interpersonal skills and sensitivity are part of the character of the volunteer.
One of the tasks will be the communication with partners and public relations. That’s the reason why the participant should speak German at B2 level.
Because of the coordination and acquisition of resources a driver license would be advantageous, but it is not compulsory.
We hope to find an engaged young person who enhances the project and extend its social and cultural competences.
